Vairano Patenora è stato (e forse lo è ancora) una vera fucina di piccoli e grandi campioni, che solo per mancanza di organizzazione e di una Federazione Nazionale non hanno potuto partecipare a tornei Regionali o Nazionali.
Dagli anni '70 agli anni '90, periodo di massimo splendore, tanti giocatori hanno mostrato il meglio di se stessi in questo piccolo grande sport, partecipando a tornei cittadini e regionali (anche se non organizzati da una Federazione, inesistente).
Il gioco propugnato dalla Scuola Vairanese è il gioco al volo, con l'aggiunta di particolari regole tendenti ad eliminare quanto più possibile la casualità del gioco.
Tralasciando numerosi giocatori di valore (Pietro Loffreda, Walter Scalera, Giulio Zompa... ecc.), elenco solo i maggiori talenti degli anni 70/90:
Emilio G. : velocità supersonica nell'eseguire dei colpi d'attacco dalla difesa, genio e sgregolatezza; la non costanza il suo difetto maggiore.
Donato G. : velocità supersonica nell'attacco, capace di mandare in bambola qualsiasi portiere. Ottima mediana, ottimo attacco. Fortissimo nel gioco singolo.
Emilio M. : portiere d'intuito e grande realizzatore, qualche piccola carenza nella posizione. Ottima tenuta psicologica e in fase di recupero.
Raffaele U . : Classic striker, foil and elegance: the king of the "double". Excellent hold psychological.
